Overview

InsureMind is a mobile app that keeps all my insurance in one place — from car liability, through home cover, to health and life policies. I add a policy with its expiry date and premium, and the app reminds me with a notification well before the cover runs out, so none of them lapses unnoticed. I built it from scratch for my own needs: design, interface and code — deliberately minimal, as a single file with no frameworks.

default reminder before a policy expires

Insurance is easy to lose track of over time: car liability, home cover, a medical package, life insurance — each has a different date and a different insurer, and the reminder usually arrives (or doesn't) as an e-mail lost in the inbox. A missed liability deadline means a real fine and a gap in cover. I wanted one place that holds every policy and watches the dates itself, instead of relying on memory and sticky notes — and one that stays simple, private and always at hand.

I went for maximum technical simplicity: the whole app is a single index.html — plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no frameworks and no build step, with a custom, refined design system built on CSS variables. It runs as an installable PWA: a Service Worker keeps it offline, and the policy data lives in localStorage on the device — no account, no backend, nothing sent to a server. The flow is short: I add a policy (title, category, expiry date, premium, insurer, reminder lead time), and the dashboard immediately shows the number of active policies and the nearest deadline. The list colour-codes statuses — green is calm, orange is nearing the end, red is past due — and the Service Worker fires a notification before the cover expires. A separate screen gathers the alerts, and a contact section keeps the major insurers' hotlines within reach.

All my policies live in one place and remind me themselves — no more keeping renewal dates in my head or digging for when the car cover actually ends. It's a personal product, built for my own needs and deliberately minimal: about 80 KB, zero dependencies, full data privacy. The principle works for anyone with more than one policy: add it once, and the app reminds you before it's too late.
